Beginning Band, Choir, and Orchestra

Elkhart Community Schools’ Beginning Band, Choir, and Orchestra programs offer middle school students an exciting opportunity to explore music, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills through engaging, hands-on learning.

As students transition into middle school, our music programs provide a positive and inclusive space to grow musically and personally. Whether they choose to sing in choir, play in band, or join the orchestra, students will discover the joy of music while learning important skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Music education supports cognitive development, focus, discipline, and emotional expression. It builds self-esteem and encourages teamwork — all while giving students a creative outlet to shine.

Through our Beginning Music programs, middle school students will:

  • Develop rhythmic and melodic skills
  • Improve listening and performance abilities
  • Gain confidence performing in front of others
  • Learn to collaborate with peers in ensemble settings
  • Build self-discipline, concentration, and musical appreciation
  • Share their talents at school, at home, and in the community

No prior experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try something new. If your student is ready to begin their musical journey, ECS is here to support and inspire every step of the way.
