What is Jazz Strings?
The Jazz Strings is a volunteer Jazz String Orchestra that meets as a class at Elkhart High School, 2nd semester only.
 
How does a student get involved in Jazz Strings?
There is no audition for Jazz Strings. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Concert, Philharmonic, or Symphony Orchestra.
 
When do the Jazz Strings practice?
The Jazz Strings rehearse during the school day, with occasional after school rehearsals.
 
Do the Jazz Strings perform for the community?
The Jazz Strings perform about three times throughout the semester, including at the ISSMA Festival, the ECS Jazz Showcase, and the Orchestra Awards Program.
 
Do the Jazz Strings compete in music competitions?
No. The Jazz Strings perform annually at the ISSMA High School Jazz Festival, which is a non-competitive event.
